COVID19
Diving Registration is now OPEN. Restart and COVID Information is included below.
Hi Team - there are a lot of questions about how and when we might restart in the pool. Here is an FAQ that should cover most of the questions you may have. If you have additional questions, please fill out our SurveyMonkey survey (sent to all former divers from last year) or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Covid Protocols for Back to Diving
Dates:
- We plan to start on October 5th and will run through December 10th (10 weeks)r. Full schedules are now posted on our programs page. Prices have been adjusted accordingly.
Times:
- We have been asked to adjust our times by 15 minutes as the pool will be doing a format change nightly (to accomodate all groups) and need the extra time to make the change.
- Dryland: 6:15 - 6:45
- Pool 6:45 - 8:15
- Group times may change depending on the group you are in; however, based on this all times are planned to be pushed by 15 minutes.
- Our programs page has all the informatino needed.
Numbers and other Diving related items.
- We will be limiting numbers for each level of diving depending on our coaching staff availability.
- At this time we have NOT received direction that kids doing diving are limited to diving only as some sports are doing.
- We will no longer have the use of other parts of the facility. Only our assigned deck space and diving end is where the programming will be held.
Screening and Tracing:
- Each family will be required to fill out a screening questionnaire EACH NIGHT that their diver comes to diving. We will be doing this electronically so it can be done via PC or mobile. This will also double as our contract tracing as the club must keep that on hand.
PPE/Masks:
- Divers will be asked to wear masks while in the facility; however, they may remove their mask once they begin any activity on deck. This includes both dryland and wet activities.
- Coaches will be asked to wear masks at all times.
Hand Spotting / Close Contact:
- All divers will be asked to physically distance.
- Individual mats will be provided for activities.
- Groups will be limited to individual activites (1 group per tramp, 1 group per dry board, 1 group for mats/deck)
- MOST instruction will be verbal; however, coaches may need to provide hand spotting with certain activities to ensure safety with the gymnastics portion of the learned activity. In these cases, coaches will hand sanitize, minimize contact, and ensure they continue to wear masks.
Changerooms: Changerooms WILL be open; however, there are some changes:
- Divers will enter and exit from different changerooms. Enter: "Day Use". Exit: "Universal"
- Changerooms will be available to do a quick change; however, the Universal room has only 3 changerooms so the expectation will be 'quick changes' and exit as quickly as possible. During warmer days the pool would like to see divers exit while wet in the same manner that folks have been asked to do at Henderson pool. This obviously doesn't always work for smaller children or during colder months.
- No Lockers will be used. Please bring all clothing/shoes/materials on deck and store at the diving end during practice. Take everything with you when you go.
- Showers in the changeroom should NOT be used at the end of the night. Please change, go home, and shower there.
Arrival / Departure:
- Divers will only be permitted to enter the facility within 10 minutes of their allotted time and are asked to exit as quickly as possible (see changerooms above)
Viewing Gallery:
- The viewing gallery is currently closed. The staff at the pool recognize the need for seating for parents and are looking at designating areas for seating during diving times. We will be asking again this week about reopening this area. Hopefully, those will small children will be able to sit in the stands provided they are following any grouping numbers (eg. only 1 adult per family) and socially distancing from anyone not in a cohort group. Please note that University has some oversight here and these discussions are ongoing. As noted, right now this area is closed. Please let us know if a permanent closure would adversely affect your decision to dive with us. We'd love to take that feedback back to the pool.
Parent Involvement on deck:
- Parents will NOT be permitted on deck unless there is an emergency and they need to be with their child. Initially the pool asked that children also change on their own; however, we expressed that some parents woudl not be comfortable with this so they have relented in allowing parents of smaller children to attend them in the change area after a session. "Get in, Get Out" is still their motto.
Shower:
- One non-negotiable is that anyone entering the water must shower (soap/water) before entering the pool. We have been assigned "our shower" under the tower so we stay away from other groups. No major issues here except we'll be using soap during the initial shower.
Washroom / Water Fountain:
- Divers should do their best to use the washrooms before their session; however, if it is unavoidable, washrooms may be used. We are being asked to minimize this activity.
- Divers should NOT be using the water fountain during diving. You may bring and fill up a water bottle before practice so water is available.
Lost/Found:
- The pool will no longer hold lost/found items. Please ensure you have everything you came with when you leave.
Bingos:
- The Bingo hall is again open and we have assigned Bingo times. 1 in Oct, 1 in Nov, and 1 in December. Numbers needed are reduced so we'll need to look at how that is arranged as well.
If there is anything else, please let us know and we'll add answers here!

Diving Update: August 20, 2020
Please see our update below on the status of diving during COVID19.
Welcome to the Lethbridge Diving Club
COVID19 Update: The Lethbridge Diving club continues to negotiate the terms under which we would be allowed to operate again. We are navigating protocols from Dive Canada, the Province of Alberta and the University of Lethbridge. If we are able to start and have sufficient interest we will begin later than usual due to the delay (likely near the beginning of October). Our meeting with the University will take place on August 27th at which time we'll learn what is necessary to resume operations. Some items we are discussing:
- No or limited use of changerooms
- Use of masks while in the building and during dryland
- Ensuring social distancing of the kids while on deck and lined up for a board
- Ensuring spectator safety (masks / distancing)
- Updates on who is permitted on deck and when
- Time block changes (to a slightly later block)
Once we have answers we'll present a comprehensive plan at which time we will gauge interest in running the program. If you have additional questions please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call us at 403.330.2757. Thanks for your patience and continued interest in our programming.

Are you or your children interested in learning how to dive? We offer a variety of diving programs ranging from our beginner learn to dive program to a pre-competitive program for those individuals who have dive experience and would like to work towards competitions. Let our certified instructors show you how much fun diving can be. We have had divers ranging in age from 5 to 65 years, so you are never too young or too old to experience diving.
It's not too late to come out and learn to dive! Our registration process is quick and easy through our online form. We run an onsite registration & open house evening at the beginning of each diving session to help orient parents & divers, introduce our coaches and answer any questions you might have.
Our Spring classes for the 2020 season are now available for registration! Information is posted to our Programs page.
How can we offer this program at a reasonable cost? We offset the cost of the program through fund-raising by working bingos and casinos. As part of registration, new families are requested to sign up to volunteer at event(s). All bookings are being completed by emailing our club email address. Please find contact information on our Contacts page.
