Welcome to the Spring Session of Diving with the Lethbridge Dive Club. We have a number of new families this session (as well as some returning families), and we just wanted to get some information out to everyone.
Bingo Update:
For those of you who have not signed up to work your required bingo's yet, you can check out the website to see the dates that we have. There are a number of them this session, so you should be able to find dates that work for you. If you have questions about the bingo's (what is involved, how many you need to work...), you can contact Shayne Duda at

. These bingo's are what allow us to keep the registration costs so low and ensure that cost isn't a barrier for people who would like to try out the sport of diving.
We are currently looking for a Bingo Coordinator to take the Duda Family's place. We really appreciate the work that they have done over the past few years coordinating our volunteers and staffing the bingo's and feel strongly that it is time for someone else to take over this job. If you have some time that you could commit to the club, please contact Jeff Meadows -

Coaches Corner:
Danielle and Kendra would just like to remind all parents that for the safety of the divers we ask that parents please not remain on the pool deck during the dive sessions. They also ask that parents not help coach from the gallery. We have all done it and there is nothing wrong with cheering on your child when they have just attempted a new dive or an especially tricky one for them, but it is important for the safety of the divers that their attention be focused on the coaches.
We have a unique opportunity this session for our young people to watch some competitive divers training. Because of pool renovations in Calgary, one of the competitive clubs will be using our platforms a few weekends a month for the next few months. Some of our pre-competitive divers will have an opportunity to train alongside of these divers and we will be encouraging all of the divers in our program to come out and see what competitive divers can do. We will be posting the dates that this training will be taking place to the website, so keep checking there for updates.
If you see someone you don't recognize on deck this coming Thursday evening, don't be alarmed. Our coaches undergo continuous training and we have an instructor coming in this Thursday and Friday to work with the coaches.
Late Breaking News:
We have recently been notified of a new swimwear online retailer that has opened up here in Lethbridge. We are planning on purchasing a few suits from them to see what the quality is like and if they "make the grade" we may look at making a team purchase for those divers who are interested (to get an even better price).
We want to remind all parents that our coaches are always available to chat shortly before and after the lessons begin and would love to speak to you briefly about your child's performance. If you would like more time to speak with them, we ask that you contact Marie Stuart - mariestuart@shaw.ca to arrange a time to meet for a longer period of time. We also welcome your feedback on any aspect of our programming. Please direct your feedback to Shayne Duda or Jeff Meadows (via phone or email, or just stop one of us at the pool and chat).
We on the board as well as the coaches are all looking forward to a great session of diving.
See you at the pool.
